Tamale City secured a 1-0 win over Liberty Professionals on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium to open up the race for a spot in next season’s betPawa Ghana Premier League.
Liberty went into the encounter hoping to seal a win to secure promotion after coming from behind to win their first game against Ebusua Dwarfs 3-1.
However, Isaac Mensah’s lone goal was enough to give Tamale City the win, leaving the race wide open.
The Ghana Premier League’s 3-team play-off is to determine which 2nd placed division one team will replace the demoted Ashanti Gold.
The final game of the play-off will take place today between Tamale City and Ebusua Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3pm.
A win for Ebusua Dwarfs will see all teams level on three points each, meaning a winner will be decided via the head to head rule.
