Ghana is the second most tranquil nation in the sub-Saharan Africa area, according to a recent ranking.
Compared to Ghana’s 2021 score of 1.715, the 2022 Global Peace Index gave the nation a higher overall score of 1.759, putting it 40th out of 163 countries for peace and tranquility.
This year’s rankings reveal that Ghana has fallen from 38th place in 2021 to 39th place.
The Gambia, Botswana, and Sierra Leone were named among the top five most tranquil African nations, according to the report.

The Worldwide Peace Index (GPI) is the most widely used indicator of global harmony, and it is created by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP).
Over 99.7% of the world’s population, the GPI evaluates the level of social safety and security, the magnitude of ongoing domestic and international conflict, as well as the degree of militarization, using 23 indicators from widely regarded sources.
As of this writing, 87 nations have improved and 73 have deteriorated during the last thirteen years, however, the change in score is the second lowest ever recorded by this indicator.
